Memorable Manitobans: Steven “Steve” Zulak (c1922-1981)

Building contractor.

Born in Western Ukraine around 1922, son of N. Zulak (?-?) and Doris Melnyk (c1900-1955), he resided in Winnipeg since 1931 where he was employed in the construction trade, as proprietor of the Zulak Construction Company for 30 years. On 24 July 1943, he married Ann Oshust (1923-2012) at Winnipeg and they had three sons and a daughter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He died at the Victoria Hospital on 15 October 1981 and was buried in the Holy Family Cemetery.
