Memorable Manitobans: Andrew Wright (1860-1932)

Realtor, banker.

Born in Scotland on 17 August 1860, he came to Canada in 1885 and had a large ranch near Winnipeg. A few years later, he moved into Winnipeg and worked in real estate and private banking in association with Duncan Macdonald. He married Margaret Watson, prominent in Winnipeg music circles, and in 1905 they moved to Victoria, British Columbia. They built a large home on the Uplands and had a son, Andrew Wright Jr. He died at Oak Bay, British Columbia on 8 June 1932.
