Memorable Manitobans: Alexander John Wilson (1913-1991)Educator, school inspector. Born at Winnipeg on 21 December 1913, he taught at Dominion City School and was Principal at Swan Lake School (1941-1943), Rossburn School (1943-1946), Swan River School (1946-1949), Maple Leaf School (1949-1956), and Carman School (1958-1961). In 1961, he was appointed a Manitoba School Inspector, based at Eriksdale, and served (and later as Superintendent) until retirement. In 1953, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal in recognition of his work with young people. He died at Winnipeg on 12 July 1991 and was buried in the Eriksdale Cemetery.
