Memorable Manitobans: Ernesta Roberta Whiteside (1876-1960)

Professor.

She attended McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario and graduated from there in 1898. In 1906 Miss Whiteside was the First Lady Principal at Brandon College. She resigned to become the Head of Moulton College in Toronto, Ontario. Due to health issues she resigned from the College in 1930. She was also the corresponding secretary for the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada, from 1939 to 1949. She was a Board Member of the Women’s Baptist Missionary Society, and the editor of The Link and Visitor, a periodical for Christian women, until 1956.

She passed away on 14 June 1960 in Toronto.
