In 1906, he sold his entire plant to Blackwood’s Limited of Winnipeg and retired to a small farm near Balmoral where he resided until the death of his brother William in 1920. At that time, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and lived with a sister. He died there on 2 July 1947.
