Municipal official.
Born in Scotland on 18 November 1883, he came to Canada in 1901 and opened a retail meat business on Main Street in Winnipeg in 1902. He later operated shops in Norwood, Transcona, and Fort Rouge. For the last 18 years of his life, he was associated with Canada Packers and, during the Second World War, he was seconded to be a regional meat rationing officer for the Wartime Prices and Trade Board.
On 7 June 1911, he married Gertrude Iona Shewman (1891-1973) at Winnipeg and they had three children: Peter Watt (1912-?), William Shewman Watt (1915-?), and Virginia Jane Watt (1919-?). He was an active member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and served as the second Mayor of Transcona (1913-1914, 1915-1916)
He died at his Transcona residence, 1138 Downing Street, on 24 December 1945 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
