Memorable Manitobans: Dorothy Theresa Waters (1925-2003)

Municial official, community activist.

Born at Toronto, Ontario on 31 January 1925, daughter of Matthew and Anne Waters, she moved to Lac du Bonnet after the Second World War. She was a town councillor and devoted her efforts to the Royal Canadian Legion and held many positions, including President of the Ladies Auxiliary Manitoba - Northwestern Ontario Command and President of the Legion Peace Garden Athletic Camp. She died on 7 April 2003 while at the World Curling Championships. Her ashes were interred at the Riverland Cemetery near Lac du Bonnet.
