Memorable Manitobans: Robert Vollans (1873-1937)

Real estate and insurance agent.

Born near Windsor, Ontario on 15 July 1873, he worked in banks around Ontario before coming to Winnipeg in 1903 where he partnered with Neil Thomas MacMillan in the real estate firm of MacMillan and Vollans. On 27 November 1907, he married Ruby Ellen Adams (?-1970, sister-in-law of Edwin Henry Bennest) at Winnipeg. They had no children. He was a member of the St. Charles Country Club and collected antique firearms and taxidermic specimens. He died at St. James on 14 July 1937 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
