Architect, Senator.
Born at Winnipeg on 16 March 1938, son of George Stratton and Mary Ena Stephton, he studied Architecture at the University of Manitoba, working with George Stewart from 1961 to 1969. He was an instructor at Red River College (1969-1975) then was the managing partner at IKOY Architecture (1975-1993). Appointed to the Canadian Senate in 1993, he served until mandatory retirement in 2013. He served as Opposition Whip (2001-2004), Deputy Leader of the Opposition (2004-2006), and Government Whip (2006-2009). He and wife Marie Wyatt had three children. He was active in the Progressive Conservative Party at the federal and provincial levels, for which he received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). He died on 13 February 2026.
