Memorable Manitobans: Christopher Stinson (1864-1929)

Farmer, municipal official.

Born in Ontario in March 1864, he farmed at 13-11-27 west of Oak Lake, Manitoba. He was married to Sarah Leverington. They had six children: James (b 1892), Lottie (b 1893), William (b 1894), John Christopher (b 1895), Sadie (b 1897), and Gordon (b 1900). He served as Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Wallace from 1905 to 1907. In this capacity he attended the 1905 founding meeting in Brandon of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities. He died in the RM of Virden on 29 April 1929.
