Memorable Manitobans: Timothy Dwight Stickle (1845-1923)

Businessman.

Born at Cobourg, Ontario on 28 June 1845, son of Henry Stickle (1804-1880) and Calista Sanford (1804-1878), he worked as a bookkeeper at Watford before coming to Manitoba where he was the first station agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway at Carberry. He resigned in 1902 to focus on real estate and finance, and operation of a grocery store.

He served as Mayor of Carberry (1896-1897) and Returning Agent for Norfolk in the 1914 provincial general election. He died at Carberry on 7 November 1923 and was buried in the Carberry Cemetery. He is commemorated by Stickle Avenue in Carberry.
