Memorable Manitobans: Emile Soubry (1884-1959)

Grain merchant.

Born at Moorslede, Belgium on 27 November 1884, he came to Canada with his wife in 1911 and settled in St. Boniface. He operated the Soubry Grain and Feed Company, with a grain elevator at 550 Archibald Street, until retirement in 1956. He and wife Zoe Saver (1882-1949) had three sons and a daughter. He served as Vice-President of the Belgian Club. He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 25 October 1959 and was buried in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery.
