Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Simmons (1879-1950)Born at London, Ontario on 19 March 1879, son of Joseph Simmons (1851-1936) and Mary Ann Hill (1849-1933), he came to Winnipeg before mid-1901 and worked as a building contractor. He also had a poultry farm at Stony Mountain (1911-1914). On 6 August 1901, he married Mabel Alexandria Denley (1877-?) at Rainy River, Ontario. They had two children: Blanche Kenwood Simmons (1904-1964) and Allen Denley Simmons (1910-1999). The family lived at 51 Scotia Street, Winnipeg. He died in England on 24 July 1950.
