Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Beltram Roblin (1885-1954)

Farmer.

Born in Manitoba on 5 February 1885, son of Rodmond Palen Roblin and Adelaide DeMille (1853-1928), he took over Maplewood, the family farm near Homewood, in the early 20th century and operated it until a few years before his death. He was a Conservative candidate for the Dufferin constituency in the 1932 provincial general election but was defeated by the Liberal-Progressive incumbent, John Alfred Munn.

In 1947, he sold Maplewood and retired to a home in Winnipeg. He died at his St. James residence, 219 Woodlawn Street on 25 February 1954 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery. Having no children, the bulk of his estate went to his nephew, Charles Dufferin “Duff” Roblin.
