Memorable Manitobans: Arnold Aubrey Portigal (1928-2015)Entrepreneur, philanthropist. Born at Winnipeg on 9 March 1928, only child of Samuel and Genevieve Portigal, he operated a financial services business then a real estate firm. Active in the Jewish community, he fundraised on behalf of Russian Jews fleeing to Israel. He served as Chairman of the Board for the Victoria General Hospital and Chairman of the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.
