Memorable Manitobans: Muriel May Patmore (1908-1999)Educator, businesswoman. Born at Brandon on 1 May 1908, daughter of Henry Lewis Patmore and Alice Ball, who started the first horticultural nursery in the Brandon area and was responsible for many of the tree-lined boulevards in the city. She went to school in the north Brandon area and worked as a teacher at Bloomsbury School. She entered into the business program at Brandon College and, at her father’s request, entered the family business as manager of the Patmore Seed Company. Under her direction the company developed many hybrid varieties. She died on 20 September 1999 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery. Sources:Voices of Yesteryear [Audiocassette], 1982.
