Memorable Manitobans: Leslie Milton “Les” Osland (1921-1993)Born at Portage la Prairie on 4 April 1921, son of Walter Herman Osland (1888-1947) and Leah Maude Jackson (1896-1971), he married Doreen Lenore Osland (?-2008) and they had two sons and four daughters. He was elected as a New Democrat to the Manitoba Legislature at the 1973 general election, representing the Churchill constituency. He did not seek re-election in 1977, the same year that he received a Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal. He died at Spruce Grove, Alberta, of emphysema, on 2 March 1993.
