Born at Hemmingford, Quebec on 2 October 1870, he worked as a building contractor before coming to Winnipeg in 1908. He continued in the work until his death. Predeceased by his wife Harriet Orr (1874-1941), he died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 4 September 1946 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
