Memorable Manitobans: Andrew Moffat (1866-1939)

Cleric.

Born at Berwick on Tweed, Scotland on 21 November 1866, he was a missionary in Spain before coming to Canada where he spent 35 years in Manitoba, serving the Presbyterian Church and, after the 1925 union, the United Church. He was a minister at Poplar Point Presbyterian Church (c1911), Miniota Presbyterian Church (1922-1927), Cartwright United Church (1929), Roseisle United Church (1930-1934), and St. Paul’s United Church (1930-1934). He and wife Jessie Moffat (1865-?) had one son, Andrew Allison “Andy” Moffat. He retired to Carman in 1934 and died there on 4 April 1939.
