Memorable Manitobans: Sara Meltzer (1900-1942)

Physician, pathologist.

Born at Winnipeg on 20 May 1900, daughter of I. Meltzer and Ester Abramson, she attended St. John’s Technical High School and the Manitoba Medical College, completing her internship and joining the medical staff of the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1924. By the time of her death, she had risen to the position of assistant pathologist. She died at Winnipeg on 11 October 1942 and was buried in Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
