Memorable Manitobans: Malcolm McKellar (1847-1928)

Farmer.

Born at East Zorra, Oxford County, Canada West (now Ontario) on 4 December 1847, he came to Manitoba in 1880 and farmed 500 acres near Pilot Mound. On 5 April 1870, he married Agnes Bale (1849-1920) of Devonshire, England at Woodstock, Ontario and they had five sons and four daughters. For several years, he was a trustee for the Huron School District, and later Pilot Mound School District. He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church for over thirty years. He died at Pilot Mound on 28 October 1928 and was buried in the Pilot Mound Old Cemetery.
