Educator.
Born at Brandon on 3 February 1892, son of Samuel James McKee and Laura Emma Harris (1854-1939), he attended school locally as well as teacher training. He worked as a teacher to help finance his way though law school at Brandon College, worked as a teacher by 1911, and was Principal of Elgin School (1914-1915).
While at Edmonton, Alberta in February 1916, he enlisted for military service with the Canadian Expeditionary Force and attended Calgary School of Infantry that March. Next, he returned to Manitoba where, in May 1916, he was taken on strength as a Lieutenant with the 196th Overseas Battalion and underwent additional training at Camp Hughes through September of that year. In October, he departed from Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard the SS Southland and arrived at Liverpool, England in November. He was reassigned to the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles and deployed to the European continent.
He was killed in action in France on 28 August 1918 and is commemorated at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial along with the Honour Rolls at the Brandon First Baptist Church, Brandon Armoury, and Brandon College.
