Memorable Manitobans: Peter McAdam (1882-1943)Born at Darwin, England on 28 March 1882, son of a cotton mill owner, he came to Canada in 1907. He worked for almost thirty years as a barber in Winnipeg, at Esquire Barbers and later at the Marlborough Hotel. An active member of the Manitoba Camera Club, he achieved considerable success as an amateur photographer. In the 1920s and 1930s, he exhibited work nationally and internationally and won several awards. He and wife Susan McDougal (?-?) had a daughter, Lilian Lownley McAdam (1914-?). He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 18 June 1943 and was buried in the St. James Anglican Cemetery. A number of his photographs are held at the Archives of Manitoba. See also:
