Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Edwin “Art” Lindenberg (1923-2013)

Businessman.

Born on the family farm near Rapid City on 4 March 1923, youngest son of Latvian immigrants Louis Martin Lindenberg (1886-1973) and Emily Ozol (1889-1973), he attended McBride School and Rapid City School before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 19. In 1935 his older brothers Arwid Ludwig Lindenberg and William Bruno Lindenberg established a seed and beekeeping business at Rapid City, that developed into Lindenberg Seeds, and he joined it after his military discharge. He also assisted his father in the operation of the family farm. In June 1951, he married Eunice Hodgkinson of Belmont and they had a daughter and two sons. He was a member of the Gideons and Central United Church. He died at Brandon on 26 July 2013 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
