Memorable Manitobans: John Bothwell Kines (1898-1985)Educator. Born in the RM of Shell River on 14 November 1898, son of John Kines and Eva Edwards, his early education occurred near Roblin, later attending university in Winnipeg and obtaining a BSc degree. He took teacher training at Toronto then returned to Manitoba and taught at Goose Lake School, and served as the Principal of Brickburn School (1937-1942) and Hapnot High School (1943-1964). In July 1935, he married Olive Alice Solstad (1911-1980) at Winnipeg. They had two daughters. In retirement he moved to Winnipeg where he died on 23 December 1985.
