Memorable Manitobans: Floyd Wilfred Keller (1918-2000)

Businessman, athlete.

Born at Davidson, Saskatcewah on 19 August 1918, he moved to Winnipeg at a young man, where he married and attended Wesley College (now the University of Winnipeg). He initially worked in the insurance industry, and was a founding director of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation and was a director of the Sun Valley Co-Op. He served as Vice President and Secretary Treasurer of the Manitoba Social Credit Party in the 1950s. In addition to his work in business and politics, he was an avid sportsman, boxing in the 1938 Canadian Championship Competition and having played fourteen seasons in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League. He died at Winnipeg on 22 August 2000.
