Memorable Manitobans: James Louis “Jim” Keilback (1926-2022)

Broadcaster.

Born on a farm at Cloverleaf on 18 September 1926, son of Louis Keilback (1894-1989) and Mary Ann Gunn (?-1958), after attending the University of Manitoba he began a career in radio, working as a disc jockey and announcer for news, sports, and special events. He worked successively at stations in Winnipeg, Kenora (Ontario), Brandon, Yorkton (Saskatchewan), Regina (Saskatchewan), and Phoenix (Arizona). He also worked as a reporter at the Winnipeg Tribune. In 1948, he married Patricia J. “Pat” Blain (1928-2009) of Winnipeg and they had seven children. He died at Regina, Saskatchewan on 17 April 2022.
