Athlete.
Born at Dauphin on 11 November 1934, he had a successful athletic career in hockey and baseball before becoming an executive at Labatt Breweries. His professional hockey career spanned for 15 seasons, in which he played in 890 games and scored 236 goals, 400 assists, and 636 points. He played in the National Hockey League in 48 games with the New York Rangers and was a member of the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League during the 1960-1961 and 1961-1962 seasons. He also played professional baseball as catcher and team leader for the Dauphin Redbirds, winning the 1962 Manitoba Senior Baseball League batting title with a .424 average. He was subsequently inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame (1997) and Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame (2001). He married Valdine Joann (1935-2017) and they had three daughters, including Colleen Kabel (?-2011, wife of Gary Tomchuk). He passed away at Edmonton, Alberta on 12 November 2016.
