Memorable Manitobans: Joseph “Jimmy” James (c1902-1990)Labour leader. Active with the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union, he later served as President of the Winnipeg Labour Council (?-1956) and Executive Secretary and President of the Manitoba Federation of Labour (?-1968). For his activism on behalf of workers, he was inducted into the Manitoba Order of the Buffalo Hunt (1968). On 24 March 1932, he married Thelma Mae York (?-?) at Winnipeg and they had a son, Eugene James. He died at Winnipeg on 17 May 1990.
