Memorable Manitobans: Ethel Irwin (1877-?)Educator. Born at Ireland in July 1877, daughter of Mary Irwin (1848-?) and James E. Irwin (?-?), she came with her mother to Canada in 1908 and settled 331 Magnus Avenue (1911) at Winnipeg. She joined the teaching staff of the Winnipeg School District, was Principal of McPhillips School (1909-1910), and taught at Strathcona School (1910-1911).
