Memorable Manitobans: Leslie “Les” Hutcheon (?-1999)Municipal official. Born and educated at Brantford, Ontario, he met his future wife while stationed at the No. 3 Wireless School of the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. In 1955, he joined the staff of the Municipality of East Kildonan and was its Secretary-Treasurer from 1961 to unification into Winnipeg in 1972. He was the Executive Director of the Manitoba Association of Urban Municipalities, from 1966 to 1969. He retired from the City of Winnipeg in 1989 as Commissioner of Finance and City Treasurer.
