Russell Hood

Engineer.
Born at Sydney, Australia on 4 November 1932, he received degrees in Engineering from the University of New South Wales in 1953 and the Sydney Technical College in 1957. He immigrated to Canada in the late 1950s and settled at Winnipeg where he worked at Underwood McLellan Associates, contributing to many infrastructural projects in Manitoba. He served as President of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba (1971) and the Engineering Institute of Canada.
On 9 June 1956, he married Wanda Joy Wright (1933-2025) in Australia and they subsequently had two sons and three daughters, including Sandra Hood (?-1964). Active in the community, he chaired the Board of Trustees for the Victoria General Hospital and the Industrial Liaison Committee of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba.
He died at Winnipeg on 16 June 2026.
