Memorable Manitobans: Earle Roy Hiebert (1932-2023)Businessman, community activist. Born at Winnipeg on 6 September 1932, he owned and operated the Academy Road Service for over 40 years. On 26 June 1953, he married Joan Bernice Solomon (?-?) and they had three children. He was active in the Winnipeg Football Club, having been a member of its board of directors from 1966 to 1994. He served as Vice-President of Community Relations (1973), Vice-President of Sales and Marketing (1974), President (1976-1977), and President of the CFL Western Conference (1978-1979). In recognition of his service in building the club, he was inducted into the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Hall of Fame (2000). He died at Winnipeg on 23 March 2023. See also:
