Swimmer.
Born at Sidmouth, England on 28 December 1951, daughter of Barbara Walton (1921–2010) and Richard Joseph Walton, her family immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in Winnipeg. She developed a passion for swimming during her childhood, learning at the Sherbrook Pool before embarking on an competitive career training at the Pan Am Pool as a prominent member of the Cardinal Swim Club. With the club, she competed across Canada and the United States.
Her athletic career peaked on the international stage when she represented Canada as an Olympic swimmer at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. The same year she earned the honour of being named the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association (MSSA) Female Athlete of the Year. She attended the University of Guelph, where she swam competitively for the university team and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education in 1974. During her time in university, she was honoured with Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) National Champion for the 1971-1972 season and was named the Most Valuable Player of the CIAU Championships. She was additionally honoured with induction into the University of Guelph Sports Hall of Fame in 1984.
Driven by her passion for working with young children, she dedicated her professional career as an instructor in the Early Childhood Education program at Red River College.
She passed away at Winnipeg on 23 November 2014 and was cremated.
