Memorable Manitobans: Alexander McLean Goodwin (1899-1987)

Physician.

Born at Elkhorn on 25 February 1899, son of Dr. Robert Goodwin and Clara Wilmott Buckingham, brother of Richard Rodney “Rod” Goodwin, he graduated from the Manitoba Medical College in 1922 and, after practicing for a time in Saskatchewan, became and Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Winnipeg. He was a founding partner of the Manitoba Clinic (1946). He retired to Victoria, British Columbia in 1974. On 13 December 1924, he married Margaret Anne Strang (1897-1987) at Winnipeg and they had a daughter and a son. He died at Victoria on 31 December 1987.
