Businessman, brewer.
Born in Swan River, Manitoba, he left school at age 13 and wandered the country working on farms and construction. In 1949 he established a construction firm in Prince George, British Columbia, which won many highway contracts from the Social Credit government. Ginter’s firm also specialized in pulp-mill cleaning. In 1962 he bought the Caribou Brewing Company, changing the name to Tartan Brewing and putting his own name and picture on its most popular beer, “Uncle Ben’s.” He marketed the first canned beer in British Columbia in 1966.
Ginter died in Richmond, British Columbia.
