Cleric.

Born at Toronto, Ontario on 24 October 1889, son of Thomas Enright and Eliza Hackett, he was baptized and confirm at St. Michael’s Cathedral. For three years, he attended the De La Salle high school. In 1916, he embarked on Redemptorist studies at St. Joseph’s College in Kirkwood, Missouri. He later moved to the newly-opened St. Mary’s College at Brockville, Ontario and graduated with its first class in 1920.

He professed his first vows at Ilchester, Maryland in August 1921 then took seminary studies at Esopus, New York where he was ordained in June 1926. He was then a mission preacher at St. Patrick’s, Quebec City (1927-1934). Quiet but forthright by nature, he served at St. Peter’s, Saint John (1934-1938) and St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church (1938-1940) where he established the St. Alphonsus Credit Union Society, one of Manitoba’s first credit unions to enable his parishioners to obtain loans. He also served as Chaplain at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary. He completed his tenure in western Canada at St. Gerard’s, Yorkton (1940-1943) before returning to eastern Canada. He was at St. Ann’s, Montreal (1943-1947) and served as prison chaplain at Dannemora, New York. At St. Patrick’s, Quebec City (1947-1956), he successfully advocated for establishment of a second credit union. His final post was at St. Patrick’s, Toronto (1956-1969).

He died at the hospital in Scarborough, Ontario on 11 June 1969 and was buried in the Redemporist Fathers Plot of Mount Hope Cemetery.
