Memorable Manitobans: Kenneth George Dowson (1946-1989)Police detective. A member of the Canadian Armed Forces for seven years, he worked as a missile assembly specialist in Germany and Shilo. In 1970, he began working for the City of Winnipeg Police Department, graduating at the top of his recruit class and beginning work in 1972 as an acting detective. In 1979 he was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. Recognized for his skills by the Police department and the Attorney General’s Department, Dowson completed training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia in 1988, becoming an Inspector in January 1989, not long before his death.
