Memorable Manitobans: James Austin Delgaty (1894-1974)Educator. Born in Ontario on 22 January 1894, son of Scottish immigrant Thomas C. Delgaty (1869-1959) and brother of W. G. Delgaty, the family came to Treherne, Manitoba where he was educated. He commenced a teaching career at the age of 16 years, later serving as Principal of Rathwell School (1939-1948), Holland School (1948-1955), and Sanford High School (1955-1962). He retired in 1962. In recognition of distinguished service in the field of education, he received the George V Medal. He died at Glenboro on 11 March 1974 and was buried in Glenboro Cemetery.
