Memorable Manitobans: Viglundur [Wiglundur] Andrjesson Davidson (1884-1938)Born in Iceland on 10 November 1884, son of Andrjes [Andres] Davidson (c1856-1950) and Steinunn Andrjes Davidson (1854-1931), he came to Canada around 1904, living at Gimli before working as a building contractor within Winnipeg. In partnership with his brother-in-law Metusalem Jonsson Thorarinson, he built some 200 residences around Winnipeg before switching to apartment blocks in the 1920s. He lived at 328 Oak Street (c1926-1938). He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 21 October 1938 and was interred in a family mausoleum in the Riverside Cemetery.
