Lawyer.
One of two children of merchant and cleric John Bubb Dangerfield (1900-1991) and Alice Alexandra Ainge (c1902-1956), in 1958 he received a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba.
In the 1960s, he returned to university and received a law degree from the Manitoba Law School (1965). Admitted to the Manitoba Bar that year, he was hired as a solicitor by the Manitoba Department of the Attorney General and joined the prosecutions branch in 1967. He was a Bencher (1976-?) and Life Bencher (?-2023) of the Law Society of Manitoba. He was made a Queen's Counsel in 1980.
He prosecuted several murder cases that were later determined to have entailed wrongful convictions, including the high-profile cases of Thomas Sophonow, James Driskell, Kyle Unger, and Frank Ostrowski. Two of his cases resulted in commissions of inquiry and the payment of millions of dollars in compensation.
On 13 February 1960, he married Sandra Ruth Milton and they had a son and daughter before divorcing in 1992. The family lived at 149 Queenston Street.
He died on 10 September 2023.
