Memorable Manitobans: Benjamin “Ben” Cohen (c1890-1968)

Businessman.

Born around 1890, he founded the Manitoba Upholstering Company. On 13 June 1920, he married Luba “Lily” Yankovsky (1899-1980) at Winnipeg and they had two children: David Cohen and Miriam Cohen (wife of ? Waxman). A supporter of the I. L. Peretz Folk School and Sharon Home, he was a member of the Montifiore Club, Winnipeg Bridge Club, and Hebrew Fraternal Lodge. He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 17 July 1968 and was buried in the B'nay Abraham Cemetery.
