Memorable Manitobans: Nina Jeanette Isbister Cadwell (1879-1954)

Community activist.

Born at Wingham, Ontario in 1879, she came to Winnipeg in 1925. Active in Liberal party politics, she was in the Liberal Women's Association and organized the Greater Winnipeg Liberal Women's Association in 1935. She was elected President of the Liberal Women of Winnipeg South (1942) and President of the Manitoba Federation of Liberal Women (1948). She served on the National Executive of Liberal Women and attended several national meetings at Ottawa. She and husband John Wesley Cadwell (1877-1969) had three daughters: Margaret J. Cadwell (1907-1963), Dorothy Cadwell (1910-1995), and ? Cadwell (?-?, wife of R. N. Ferguson). She died at her Winnipeg home, 10 Lucerne Apartments, on 2 March 1954.
