Artist.
Born on a farm near Swan River on 15 May 1940, one of three children of Ferdinand M. “Ferd” Brolund (1913-1990) and Angeline M. Demas (1917-1991), he taught art at Princess Elizabeth School (1974-1975) and throughout southwestern Manitoba. He worked as an artist for years, hosting art shows at the family home and at art galleries. In later years, he sold his artwork to benefit local organizations and charities.
On 5 September 1960, he married Margaret Anne Mackie and they had two sons. He had a woodworking shop where he explored lathe work, cabinetry, antique restoration, and carving. A long-time interest in motorcycles led him to start an independent motorcycle shop that he continued for some 25 years. A love of music resulted in him learning to play drums and he performed with several groups in local venues and across the prairies.
He died at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on 26 August 2026.
