Memorable Manitobans: Charles Douglas Bollman (1917-1986)

Educator, school inspector.

Born at Rapid City on 21 May 1917, son of Charles and Jeannie Bollman, he was educated at Moline School, Rapid City School, Brandon College (BSc), and the University of Manitoba (BEd). In 1939, he began a teaching career at the Glenboro High School. He was Principal of the Manitou Collegiate from 1946 to 1954, when he was appointed a provincial school inspector. He served in this capacity at Winnipegosis (1954-1962), Virden (1962-1972), and Brandon until retirement in 1983. On 29 December 1941, he married Vera Isabel Nattress (1912-1999) at Glenboro. They had two children. He died at Brandon on 1 February 1986.
