Memorable Manitobans: Theodore Ivan “Ted” Bartman (1940-2019)

Administrator.

Born at Edmonton, Alberta on 25 March 1940, son of Maria and John Bartman, his family moved to the North End of Winnipeg where he spent much of his childhood. He attended Sisler High School then the University of Manitoba, graduating with a degree in Pharmacy in 1963. He worked as a hospital pharmacist, serving as Medical Director, Assistant Executive Director, Executive Director, and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Misericordia General Hospital. He was President of the Canadian Hospital Association and Manitoba Club (2000), and a director of Manitoba Blue Cross. He held several executive positions with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, including a term as President (1990-1991) and was named to the Blue Bomber Hall of Fame (2011). He died at Winnipeg on 27 October 2019.
