This two-storey wood frame and stucco house on Cordova Street in Winnipeg, measuring 26.3 feet by 33.3 feet, was designed and built in 1929 by contractor/owner Samuel Langtree Thompson at a cost of about $8,000. An adjacent one-storey wood frame garage, measuring 12 feet by 18 feet, was also designed and built by Thompson at a cost of about $200. He sold them to Willard Smith Whitney (c1885-1976), a purchasing agent at the construction firm of Carter-Halls-Aldinger.
