Historic Sites of Manitoba: Shinoff Block (219 Stella Avenue, Winnipeg)

Formally located on Stella Avenue in Winnipeg, this two-storey brick building, measuring 24 feet by 48 feet, was built in 1935 by contractors Jacob Silver and Nathan Popeski for owner Max Shinoff at a cost of about $5,000. In its original configuration, the building contained a single retail space initially occupied by R. Shinoff & Sons, while the second floor contained a single residential apartment.

The building has been demolished and the site is now occupied by the Mount Carmel Clinic.
