This one-storey brick building on Rosser Avenue in Brandon, measuring 33 feet by 80 feet, was designed by the Winnipeg architectural firm of Northwood and Chivers. It was constructed between late 1929 and early 1930, at a cost of about $18,000, as a grocery for Safeway Stores Limited. It opened officially on 28 February 1930.
Later occupied by a Simpsons-Sears department store, the building has been extensively renovated from the original, and was occupied by a Habitat for Humanity Restore at the time of a 2022 site visit.
