Historic Sites of Manitoba: Petursson House (616 Alverstone Street, Winnipeg)

This two-storey brick residence on Alverstone Street in Winnipeg, measuring 33 feet by 35 feet, was designed and constructed in 1914 by contractor Bjorn Pétursson, at a cost of about $8,000.

In 1999, a group from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba received a Distinguished Service Award from Heritage Winnipeg for its documentation study of the house, including a summary of its social history, architectural features, and detailed floor plans.
